Photoshoot FAQs (Series):
Question # 1 – What NOT to wear to a photoshoot?
I am a cool photographer, so I’ll keep this short and sweet: YOU are the highlight of the shoot, everything has to be about YOU.
You can wear anything, but try to stay away from the following:
- Loud prints and big patterns (e.g. big polka dots, large stripes, etc.) these will take the attention from YOU. When in doubt, stay with your simplest wardrobes.
- Sleeveless and short sleeves – arms, or should I say bare big arms are the biggest distractions in photos, stay a mile away from them on your big day. If you want to show some skin, wear bardots (off-shoulders). They look hot yet classy in photos, yes, even on larger women.
- Excessive make up – other photographers would advise you to wear something heavier than what you’d usually wear on a normal day (may point sila actually, because you will be bombarded with strong lights sa shoots, so you’ll appear paler). BUT, in my opinion (kanya-kanya lang yan, walang basagan ng trip), I believe wearing your normal daily make up would suffice (don’t forget ang blush on & mascara – a must!). Wearing make up this way would make you look bare (or even un-made up) pag tinamaan ka na ng ilaw, or natural lang ang dating – which I think is much better.
- Excessive jewelries – a simple pair of earrings will do – unless otherwise, you are trying to make a statement of wealth. Pautang naman po.
- Eye-glasses – Magrereflect ang lights sa glasses, and you can say goodbye to your most expressive feature sana sa picture – your eyes. If you don’t feel comfortable without wearing one, you make wear a frame without glasses. Hmm baka may mga lumang eyeglasses, tanggalin na lang ang glasses.
Aside from these five, I’d say you can pretty much wear what you like. Happy shooting!
